The branch of dentistry that deals with and treats the problems affecting the living tissue of the teeth for various reasons is called endodontics.
What is root canal treatment?
Damaged teeth due to various reasons such as caries or trauma cause severe pain, and the process of treating these teeth is called canal treatment. Crown the part of the tooth above the gingiva; The part remaining inside the bone is called the root. Teeth consist of three different layers. On the outermost, there is a hard enamel layer that protects the tooth, a more permeable and sensitive dentin layer under it, and a pulp tissue with vessels and nerves that feed the tooth. In cases where pulp tissue is affected, root canal treatment is required. During this procedure, the pulp tissue is removed after anesthesia is applied to the patient. After the tooth canals are shaped and cleaned with special devices, they are filled with materials compatible with the tissues and permanent filling of the tooth is made. These procedures are completed in a single session in some cases, and in more than one session in some cases, as deemed appropriate by the physician. Since everyone's tooth structure is different from each other, root canal treatment may fail in some cases and tooth extraction may be required.
