Root tip resection, also known as apical resection, is applied in cases of cyst, tumor or infection that does not heal after root canal treatment.

Root tip resection is surgically removing a part of the root of the tooth, allowing the area to heal. With this process, the need for tooth extraction can be eliminated and its lifespan can be increased.
